East Tennessee Allergies: How to Fight Back

April 17, 2018

Springtime comes with warm weather, sunshine and flowers in bloom. But, alongside the fantastic weather usually comes allergies. There are many allergy triggers during the spring months, but there are ways to win the east tennessee allergies battle.

Know your stuff

Staying indoors for all of allergy season is unrealistic. With the weather finally clearing up, outside is the best place to be. Before tackling the great outdoors, do your research. Pollen counts in your region are made public and can be accessed on the internet. There are also apps that provide a daily pollen count. On days with higher pollen counts, try to stay indoors as much as possible. Wearing sunglasses is a great way to keep pollen out of your eyes. Staying hydrated also can help combat on the onset of allergies.

Keep it clean!

Pollen and other dust can remain on clothing and your body throughout the day. This isn’t just about washing your hands; clothing and furniture also need attention. It may be tempting to open the windows on a gorgeous day, but be advised of the pollen count before letting in the spring breeze. You may be letting in a lot more than you anticipated. If pollen does get in, it tends to settle on the floor when the air is motionless. Keep fans running so the dust doesn’t linger around your home.

Treat yourself with Vitamin C

Sometimes despite preventative measures, you may still experience allergy symptoms. You become so congested that it runs you down. This happens to most people at some point in allergy season. A great way to combat this is with intravenous vitamin C infusions (IVC). Vitamin C infusions are a beneficial way to deliver antioxidants straight to the body. Our bodies do not naturally generate vitamin C, yet we need it to function properly. An infusion provides the vitamins you need quickly and effectively.
