How Does Hormone Pellet Therapy Work?

Bioidentical hormone pellet therapy is a safe, effective way to restore balance to your hormone levels and life. At Knox Wellness Experience in Knoxville, TN, we offer this hormone replacement delivery system to help our clients improve their quality of life. With just two or three convenient treatments annually, you can enjoy the vitality, mental clarity, and energy you had when you were in your 20s.

How Does Hormone Pellet Therapy Work?

Hormone pellets are the most effective bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) delivery systems. It entails the implantation of a tiny pellet measuring roughly 3 mm by 9 mm, smaller than a grain of rice.

The pellet works by delivering hormones consistently over the course of several months, resolving hormonal deficiencies. These pellets are completely biodegradable, so you don’t have to worry about scheduling an appointment to have them removed. Also, they get to work as soon as they are inserted.

What’s Inside of These Pellets?

These pellets contain hormones derived from natural sources that are bioidentical to the hormones your body produces naturally. There is no risk of your body rejecting the treatment because it can’t tell the difference between the hormones in the pellets and its own pellets.

Depending on your unique needs, your hormone pellets may contain testosterone or estrogen. These pellets consistently supplement the insufficient hormone, bringing your hormone levels back in balance. Once your hormone levels are balanced again, you will no longer suffer from the symptoms of hormonal imbalance.

Are These Pellets Safe?

Yes, bioidentical hormones are very safe. In fact, they are far safer than synthetic hormones. Also, they are much more effective than synthetic hormones.

How Quickly Will I Notice the Results of This Treatment?

You can expect to start feeling better approximately two to three weeks after your pellet implantation. However, if you’ve been living with hormone insufficiency for years, it may take up to six months for complete hormonal balance to be restored.

What Are the Benefits of This Treatment?

Hormone pellets provide numerous benefits. For example, they are incredibly convenient, restoring balance to your hormone levels for months at a time without requiring you to administer nasal sprays or creams once or twice per day.

A Mindless Process

One of the most compelling benefits of this hormone replacement therapy delivery system is that the process is convenient. You don’t have to remember to supplement your hormones daily or even weekly. With just one convenient treatment, you can get a steady supply of hormones for months at a time. If you opted for another delivery system and forgot a dose or two, you would quickly start experiencing symptoms of hormonal insufficiency again.

Consistent Hormone Delivery

To reiterate, the pellet starts working as soon as it is implanted. At no point will you have to administer any hormones yourself. Another incredibly compelling benefit of this hormone replacement delivery system is the stream of hormones remains constant.

Patches, creams, and nasal sprays can deliver inconsistent hormone levels. When you opt for hormone pellet therapy, you constantly receive the precise dose you need to restore balance to your hormone levels.

Convenient Appointments

The convenience of the appointments is another great benefit of this delivery system. The entire implantation process takes roughly a quarter of an hour from start to finish. After that, you are free to return to your daily routine. At no point will you have to monitor your hormone levels or wonder whether you administered the appropriate dose at the right time.

How Does the Treatment Process Work?

Your Initial Assessment

The hormone pellet therapy process starts with an initial assessment. This is a crucial step in the treatment process because it informs us of whether you qualify for this treatment.

During your initial assessment, we’ll talk about your symptoms and give you plenty of time to ask any and all questions you have about the treatment process. We will also conduct a diagnostic examination to determine where your hormone levels are currently. This lets us know which hormones are insufficient and how insufficient they are.

Your Treatment

Once we know how insufficient your hormone levels are, we will schedule a treatment session for you. On the day of your appointment, we will cleanse the treatment area. Typically, pellets are implanted into the hip’s adipose tissue, but they can also be implanted into the thigh or buttock.

Once the implantation region is cleansed, a topical anesthetic will be applied to the treatment area. This will numb the area so you don’t feel any pain or discomfort. Once your skin is prepared for treatment, we will insert the pellet into the adipose tissue through a minuscule incision.

The Aftercare

As noted above, you can resume your daily routine after your convenient, pain-free 15-minute session. You don’t have to take any time off from work, but you should adhere to a few restrictions for a few days. Adhering to the post-treatment care guidelines will ensure the pellet remains intact and you will get the best possible results. Here’s a brief overview of the rules to expect once the implantation process is complete.

Keep the Implantation Area Dry

You must keep the treatment area dry once your treatment is over. For instance, you should not go for a swim or take a bath for a few days after your pellet is implanted. Your implantation site must be kept dry for 24 hours following your implantation process. After that, you can shower, but you must pat the implantation site dry gently with a soft towel.

Avoid Strenuous Exercise

You also must avoid vigorous exercise for three to four days following your treatment. If you exercise too vigorously, your pellet may shift out of place.  Examples of exercises you should avoid include sprinting, running, cycling, swimming long distances, and heavy weight lifting sessions that work the lower body.  Gentle walking or cycling and upper body weight lifting routines are okay since they won’t put undue pressure on the treatment area.

If you feel like can’t skip leg day, make sure you get in your intense workout on the day of your appointment. By the time it’s time for leg day again, you’ll be in the clear for an intense workout session. Remember, you only need to relax for a few days to get back the energy and strength you haven’t felt in decades.
