What Is PRF and How Can It Help Regenerate Your Cells?

By now, you have probably heard about PRP, but how about PRF? A growing number of patients and doctors are talking about platelet rich fibrin (PRF), a treatment that has cosmetic and regenerative benefits. It is a logical evolution of platelet rich plasma (PRP) that can offer even greater health benefits than traditional PRP. As professionals who are committed to being at the forefront of regenerative medicine, Knox Wellness Experience is excited to offer PRF treatments to our patients.

How Does PRF Work?

PRF uses your own blood and platelets to create a membrane rich in platelets (approximately 10 times more than your normal blood) that can be safely reinjected into your own body for therapeutic benefits.

Like with PRP, a professional draws your blood and runs it through a centrifuge to pull out plasma with a high concentration of platelets, separating out red and white blood cells. Where PRF goes a step further is that this plasma is then processed into a fibrin matrix that has high quantities of growth factors in addition to platelets.

Benefits of PRF

Platelet rich fibrin is known to:

  • Stimulate cell growth
  • Accelerate skin repair/rejuvenation
  • Promote soft tissue regeneration
  • Have anti-inflammatory properties
  • Improve joint functionality
  • Generate new blood vessels
  • Be relatively inexpensive

PRF’s main advantage over PRP is its slow release. Unlike plasma, fibrin slowly releases growth factors over an extended period, allowing for the results to last longer?

Scientists are continuing to explore the power of PRF and believe it will be instrumental in musculoskeletal regeneration moving forward. Dentists are already using PRF to accelerate patient recovery after some procedures.

PRF Treatments We Offer

Aging, injury, or disease can cause your body to ache or slow down, disrupting your quality of life. Our experts offer PRF injections to restore the functionality of your joints and soft tissue for faster healing and diminished discomfort. By triggering the body to repair itself rather than simply dulling the pain, your body will be stronger after treatment.

We also offer PRF as a complement to some cosmetic treatments to heal skin, stimulate collagen production, boost complexion, and promote hair growth in patients experiencing hair loss.
